This is the unit that receives signal from the ECU & controls the boost level. A defective unit usually will cause a base boost condition (the car won't boost past 5 PSI and will be very slow to accelerate), or constant overshoot which will cause unusually high boost which will trigger fuel cut, and then the car will go into limp home mode, where you will have no boost.  This unit tested in actual operation  in a 2010 Saab 9-5 V6.  It works properly.
